• Damage estimated at $300 was discovered Thursday to a vending machine on Starlite Road, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The incident involved a Coca-Cola dispenser at Auto Service Center of Mount Airy, which was broken into by an unknown suspect.
• An attempt was made to forcibly enter a city-owned storage building at Westwood Park on Galax Trail, which was reported Thursday. A doorknob was broken in the process, with the damage put at $60.
• Mount Airy’s Riverside Park was the scene of a crime discovered Wednesday, which involved $4,000 in damage to two soft-drink machines owned by Pepsi Bottling Ventures in Jonesville. The currency-intake portions of the Pepsi and Gatorade dispensers were pried out, enabling the theft of $250 contained inside.
• Joshua Austin Johnson, 21, of 134 Blackberry Lane, was cited for larceny last Saturday at Walmart. Johnson is to be in Surry District Court on July 3.
• Ivan Pichataro Apraicio, 25, of London Lane, was taken into custody on May 18 for illegal blue light use, no operator’s license and an outstanding order for arrest for failing to appear in court issued on Feb. 21. Apraicio was stopped in the Forrest Oaks Shopping Center parking lot for displaying blue lights and in addition to driving while his license revoked, was found to have not appeared in court on that same violation earlier this year. He was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and is facing a June 10 appearance in District Court.
• Matthew Paul Dale Reed, 28, of 176 Joe Reed Trail, was arrested on charges of speeding to elude arrest, driving while impaired, speeding 63 mph in a 45 mph zone, careless and reckless driving and driving while license revoked on May 18. Reed allegedly refused to stop for blue lights and a siren, which led to a police pursuit that ended when Reed’s 1997 Toyota Avalon broke down at U.S. 52 and Carter Street. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond and is slated for a July 12 District Court appearance.
