Bobby Brantley of the “Lizard Lick Towing” television show signs autographs during an appearance in Pilot Mountain last month. Brantley will be available to meet the public next Thursday at the Surry County Agricultural Fair.

Along with the usual midway rides and cotton candy to be found at a county fair, the annual Surry County event next week will have two special attractions: one a show-business celebrity, the other a machine.

The human side of that equation is to be fulfilled by Bobby Brantley, co-star of the popular “Lizard Lick Towing” television series seen on the truTV cable network.

A custom-built motorcycle created by cast members of another cable TV show, “American Chopper,” is the machine that will be involved.

Both Brantley and the special chopper will be appearing courtesy of Carolina Carports Inc.

Brantley is to be at the fairgrounds at Veterans Memorial Park on West Lebanon Street next Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m.

“He will be signing autographs and doing a meet-and-greet from our display trailer,” said Heather Smith, general manager of Carolina Carports. While the opportunity to meet Brantley is free of charge, it will require paying the admission price for the fair itself.

Smith said a special area will be set up at Veterans Memorial Park for Brantley’s appearance, and fans should look for signs directing them to that site. “They really can’t miss it — it’s a huge tractor-trailer rig.”

The custom chopper will be on display at the same location all during the fair, which gets under way Tuesday. Cast members of “American Choppers” built the bike about two years ago, an event depicted on their TV show, then delivered it during the 2010 Autumn Leaves Festival as an enthusiastic crowd watched.

Smith explained that Carolina Carports has taken the chopper on tour to fairs and other events, and sometimes is joined by “Lizard Lick Towing” cast members as part of a promotional agreement with them.

He needs to go back to under the rock from where he crawled. He is crude, rude and doesn't respect his state enough to show it respect. This fake man and fake show needs to go away. Leave Mount Airy alone.
