Sales totaled 444 head, including cattle (383), goats (57) and hogs (4), during Tuesday’s sales at Mount Airy Stockyards Inc.
Animals sold on the livestock market, based on 100-pound weights, were:
• Slaughter cows: utility and commercial, $72-$87; cutter and boning, $75-$88; canner and low cutter, $49-$67.
• Slaughter bulls: 1,000-1,500 pounds, $88-$90; 1,500 pounds and up, $95-$102.50.
• Stock cows: 875-1,050 pounds, (S1) $800-$1,250.
• Cow/calf pairs: too few.
• Baby calves: $60-$130.
• Feeder steers and bulls: 300-400 pounds, (small frame) $98-$126, (Holsteins) $84-$97; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $126-$148, (small frame) $100-$120; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $117.50-$135; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $109-$126.50, (small frame) $90-$110; 700 pounds and up, (M1) $105.50-$119.50.
• Feeder heifers: 300-400 pounds, (M1) $130-$136, (small frame) $90-$121; 400-500 pounds, (M1) $124-$142, (small frame) $99-$117; 500-600 pounds, (M1) $126-$134.50; 600-700 pounds, (M1) $122.
• Goats: kids, $25-$80; others, $65-$135; large billy, $47.50-$115.
