To the Editor,
Surry Co. NC, has the most wonderful historic towns, majestic rivers and mountains, wine to die for and some of the cleanest air in the state
She is the prettiest girl at the dance but is planning to go home with a smelly humpback stranger that smokes to the tune of millions of lbs. of toxic pollution per year.
The strangers’ bad habits will seriously hurt her chances of attracting more favorable suitors in the future, unless we immediately voice our concerns to town, county and state leaders.
Please join with other concerned friends and neighbors at tonight’s 7 p.m. county commissioners meeting in Dobson, and the March 9th planning board meeting where decisions concerning a proposed Fibrowatt Waste burning power plant to be located on the banks of the Yadkin river just two miles north of Elkin will be made.
Thank you,
Barry Carlton
Elkin
(Editor’s note: the commissioner’s meeting mentioned in this letter has been rescheduled for Thursday night at 6 p.m.)
