East Surry and Mount Airy both won games on the road Friday night.
The Cardinals went into Danbury and beat North Stokes 20-7. The Bears traveled to Kernersville to squash the Villains 45-7.
Because of the long rides back after the games, full details were not available at press time.
East’s Jeremy Gilley helped preserve the Cards’ lead in the second half. He made an interception on defense, then caught a pass for an important first down before halfback Zach Koons scored an insurance TD.
Mount Airy won its fifth-straight game and improved to 3-0 in the Northwest Conference. The Bears are tied for first place with North Surry, who will visit Wallace Shelton Stadium next Friday.
