ELKIN — Mr. Richard Neal Harrison, 80, of Elkin, passed away on Friday evening, Sept. 28, 2012, at Wake Forest University Hospital in Winston-Salem. He was born in Elk Horn, W.Va., on Oct. 15, 1931, to the late Garnie Harrison and Edna Lucas Harrison. He was retired from Cross Creek in Mount Airy and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Alice Alma Throckmorton Harrison of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Dale Davis of Dobson; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Doris and Calvin Hawks of Pilot Mountain; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, J.W. and Carolyn Gilley of Pilot Mountain; granddaughter, Mandy and Travis Holt; grandson, Brad Davis; brother, Lee Harrison of Texas; and sisters-in-law, Linda Harrison and Patricia Harrison, both of Dobson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin Harrison, Doug Harrison and Allen Harrison; two sisters, Hope Capps and June Hawks; and first wife, Betty Moody Harrison. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with burial to follow in the Union Cross Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Watson and Dr. Andy Atkins will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Moody-Davis Funeral is serving the Harrison family.
