The number one ranked Lady Greyhounds volleyball team swept another win Thursday night 3-0, moving the team to a 22-1 overall record. Bishop McGuinness put in a lackluster performance sending its overall record to 11-12.

The Greyhounds won three straight against the Villains, 25-11, 25-11 and 25-16.

For North Surry, Molly Martin recorded 13 kills, Malaya Johnson eight, and Kristina Rumplasch pitched in seven. Molly Martin contributed seven digs and Maddison Hawks six. Bailey Culler had 25 assists and Taylor Hill had four blocks and was 12-for-12 on serves. Malaya Johnson had four blocks and was 11-of-12 in serves. Both Hill and Johnson had one ace each.

Martin, Rumplasch and Hawks each celebrated senior night with gifts presented by the team. The Lady Greyhounds said they were moved emotionally by the gifts and thoughtfulness of teammates. Hawks said that she hopes to continue her career in volleyball at Surry Community College next year while studying nursing.

Greyhounds Coach Shane Slate said that it is always nice to have a win on Senior Night and remarked on what a big part of the teams’ success that these three special seniors have contributed.

The team will face East Surry Tuesday in Pilot Mountain.
