• A Mount Airy man was pepper-sprayed and charged with multiple violations after a Tuesday night incident at a convenience store from which he had been banned. Jesse Mark Gibson, 23, of 441 Austin Drive, is accused of larceny, resisting a public officer and second-degree trespassing, according to city police department reports.

Officers encountered Gibson during a larceny call at SAR Express on South Main Street, where he was found to have taken cigars in addition to trespassing for ignoring the previous ban. While en route to a magistrate’s office in a patrol car, Gibson is said to have begun beating his head against the cage separating the front and rear seats and was administered OC spray, also known as pepper spray. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $1,500 secured bond and is scheduled to be in District Court on Nov. 20.

• A larceny was reported Monday at the Tlaquepaque restaurant on Rockford Street, where a refrigeration rack was taken from a rear parking lot where it had been moved for cleaning.

• Fletcher Myra Dorsett, 72, of 340 Snowhill Drive, is facing violations of larceny, possession of stolen property and being intoxicated and disruptive in connection with an incident last Friday at Walmart, where he allegedly stole four 24-ounce containers of Steel Reserve lager and five Bic lighters. Dorsett is facing a Nov. 6 court appearance.

• A license plate, number AAB6786, was stolen last Friday from a 1994 Mercury Sable registered to Edison Tillman Floyd of Elkin. The theft occurred while the vehicle was parked at 449 N. Andy Griffith Parkway, listed as the address for 52 Thruway Shopping Center.

• A felonious larceny was discovered on Oct. 1, involving a catalytic converter valued at $3,828 from a 2012 Ford F-350 pickup owned by Advanced Electronic Services on Technology Lane. The theft occurred while the vehicle was in a rear parking area of Pine State Marketing on Frederick Street.

• Property valued at nearly $900 was reported stolen during a break-in at the residence of Heather Rispoli Rodriguez on West Church Street, which was discovered on Oct. 1. A Playstation video game system was taken along with assorted games and DVD movies, a tan purse with emblems, a CD player/radio and children’s clothing. Damage put at $100 occurred to a door during the forced entry.

• A larceny was reported on Sept. 29 by Melissa Louise Williams, who told police that her room at the Blu-Vue motel was entered using a key stolen from the manager’s office. Two DVD players and prescription medication were listed as missing.

• A case involving theft and property damage was reported on Sept. 30 at Wally’s Service Center on South Main Street, where someone caused estimated damage of $145 to a picnic canopy while stealing packages of hamburger patties and Boston butt pork valued at more than $60.
