Sunny weather drew car enthusiasts out to the 20th Annual Autumn Leaves Show & Shine car show at Veterans Park on Saturday.
Mike Cain, of Ocean Isle, drove his 1965 Nova to the show. He said he is from this area and wanted to come back for the car show. Cain said he has more hot rods than just the Nova — he has seven show cars in all. He has a 1972 Chevelle, a 1953 Ford pick-up, a 1955 Chevy, a 1965 Chevelle, a 1968 Camaro and a 1967 GTO. In the trunk of the Nova, he had a picture of him and his wife with Aaron Tippen.
“He’s a really nice guy,” said Cain.
He said he’s been into cars his whole life.
Bryan Marion, organizer for the event, said he was pleased with the turnout of at least 300 vehicles.
“It’s been an awesome day. We’ve had a record crowd,” said Marion.
He said this year, the group will be giving part of the proceeds to Randy Floyd, who is struggling with ALS, and the other part of the funds raised will go to help a needy family at Christmas.
Landon Tolbert had his Dodge Ram truck dyno tested at a booth at the car show. The test showed that he has 486 horsepower and 680 in torque in the 2,500 turbo diesel truck.
Rachel Hall watched as her nephew drove his Case tractor up on a trailer when it was time to head home. She said her dad found it for her and restored it. She since got a new one and gave hers to Derek Sechrist.
