SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — Ricky Lee Nelson passed onto heaven Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, after a 4 1/2-year battle with lung cancer. His wife, Carol; son Justin, wife Shondra and daughter Ashley LeFleur; as well as grandchildren Blake Gilbert, Brandon Gilbert, Noah Nelson, Grace Nelson and Ethan Nelson, survive him. Also he is survived by brother, Dana Nelson and sister LaVonda Nelson, both of Pilot Mountain, N.C., and brother Darryl Nelson of Kernersville, N.C. A viewing is scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, Staging Area 1. There will be a memorial service at 11:30 with a luncheon to follow at Immanuel Baptist Church, 28355 Baseline, Highland. Those wishing to join the procession meet at IBC at 8:30 a.m. Bring your favorite scripture and/or story of Ric’s life for a memory book. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to World Vision, P.O. Box 70030, Tacoma, WA 98481-0030. There will also be a celebration of life and memorial service held in Pilot Mountain on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street.
