SALISBURY — North Surry bested Salisbury in volleyball Saturday in three sets, 25-5, 25-12 and 25-12 in state playoff action.

“We did a good job of taking care of the ball most of the afternoon and stretched our lead with serving and hitting,” said Lady Greyhound Coach Shane Slate. “Our blocking and perimeter defense was fairly sharp as well. We want to get on a roll so that we can play better each match, that is important for advancing in the playoffs.”

Molly Martin led the Hounds with 10 kills and Malaya Johnson had eight and Taylor Hill had six. Bailey Culler led in digs with eight and also had 25 assists and teammate Maddison Hawks had seven. North’s Erin March had five blocks and Kristina Rumblasch had four.

Marin led in serves, hitting on 9 of 9 with two aces. Rumplasch scored on 15 of 16 serves with two aces and Hawks was 15-for-17 with three aces.

The Greyhounds are scheduled to play Randleman or Forbush on Oct. 23. The win lifted North to a 28-2 record overall and an untarnished 16-0 record in Northwest Conference play. Salisbury is 12-9 overall.
