• Nearly $11,000 worth of electronics components and jewelry has been reported stolen from a city residence, according to the Mount Airy Police Department. The felonious larceny was discovered last week at the home of Mandy Lynn Brannock on Allred Mill Road, where an Emerson 42-inch flat-screen television set; laptop, tablet and netbook computers bearing brand names including Compaq, Dell and Coby; a Garmin GPS unit; an Xbox 360; a compound bow; 250 music CDs; a purse valued at $800; and various rings, necklaces and bracelets were taken.

• Julia Gabriela Ortiz, 19, of 156 Cone Lane, was cited for larceny Thursday. Ortiz is accused of concealing merchandise valued at $37 in her purse at Sally’s Beauty Supply on Rockford Street and leaving the business without paying. She is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on Dec. 11.

• Damage to two vehicles owned by residents of Starlite Motel was reported Thursday. One incident involved a tire being punctured on a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Robin Nicole Harvey. The tire apparently was damaged with a sharp, blade-type instrument, with the loss put at $75. In the other case, $50 in damage occurred to the paint of a 2002 Mercedes-Benz owned by Firoz Esufalikesaria.

• Elizabeth Nicole Jones, 31, of 902 Hunter Drive, was cited for larceny Thursday at Walmart, where she is accused of concealing cosmetic items valued at $41, which were recovered. Jones’ District Court date is Nov. 20.

• Christie Lynn Collins, 33, of 244 Hiatt Road, was cited for larceny Wednesday at Walmart, where she allegedly took merchandise valued at $97. The property was returned to the store. Collins, who has been banned from Walmart, is scheduled to be in Surry District Court on Nov. 6.

• David Dale Anderson Jr., 40, of Mom and Pop’s Campground, Dobson, was arrested on Oct. 13 on charges of obtaining property by false pretense, a felony, and two misdemeanors, larceny and possession of stolen goods, during an investigation at Walmart. Anderson was held in the Surry County Jail under a $25,000 secured bond and is to be in District Court on Dec. 13. Other details surrounding the charges were not listed.

• A 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup owned by Lisa Darlene Tucker of Brown Mountain Road, Pilot Mountain, was broken into on Oct. 13 while at Golden Corral on Rockford Street, with a purse, First Citizens Bank credit and debit cards, a First Citizens checkbook and a First Citizens savings account card taken along with $110 in cash, a Social Security card and a driver’s license. Entry to the pickup was gained by breaking a passenger-side glass.

• Angela Lynn Hiatt, 43, of 48 Amazing Grace Lane, Cana, Va., was cited for larceny on Oct. 13 at Walmart, where she allegedly took miscellaneous grocery items valued at $130 without paying. Hiatt is facing a Nov. 6 appearance in Surry District Court.

• A break-in of a motor vehicle was reported on Oct. 12 at the Mount Airy Public Library. Items including a leather purse, BB&T and Blue Cross and Blue Shield debit cards, a driver’s license and a motor vehicle registration sticker were stolen from a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu owned by Elizabeth Ann Reid, a Hickory Street resident.

• Kimberly Shawn Bruner, 34, of 194 Starwood Trail, was charged on Oct. 11 with larceny by employee, a felony. The crime occurred at Walmart, where Bruner was detained by security personnel after allegedly taking $500 from the store within a two-day period. She is free on a written promise to appear in District Court on Nov. 14.
