CHARLOTTE — The East Surry Lady Cardinals lost 3-1 last night in Charlotte during the third round of the state volleyball playoffs.

The Northwest 1A East Surry Lady Cards entered the round after beating Albemarle High School at home Tuesday night by a score of 3-1 in an explosive offensive match.

The 1A division Lady Cards came into the finals last night with a 19-7 record to meet the 1A Southern Piedmont Lake Norman Charter Team on their home turf.

The Lake Norman Charter team entered the match against the Cardinals with a 22-3 record and will play Bishop McGuinness Saturday evening.

The bittersweet defeat came for the Lady Cards came after they had clinched two rounds of victories against two very competitive teams in the playoffs.
