Name: Sarah Stevens

Age: 52

Occupation: Attorney for 26 years

Political History: Elected to the N.C. House of Representatives in 2008. Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. Currently seeking third term and is running unopposed.

“My first term had a steep learning curve, but I finally became acclimated and felt I can express the interests of my district. I do view (serving in the House) as a service to the community, and it is also intellectually challenging.”

Stevens says her primary focus in the House is to “view any proposed laws to determine the potential impact on my district.”

She urges all voters to cast their ballots after thoughtful consideration of the candidates.

“This is an important election,” she says. “You are hiring people to do important work for you. With that in mind, carefully review each candidate’s credentials.”

Despite running unopposed this year, Stevens said she would like to thank the voters who cast their ballots for her.

“Even without opposition (in this election), I see each vote cast for me as a vote of confidence,” she said.
