This is election season not only for political candidates, but for a local organization.
The time has come for Surry Branch 5459 of the NAACP to select officers. The group’s 2012 election has been scheduled for Nov. 18 during a regular meeting at Spencer Funeral Home in Mount Airy, President Faye Carter has announced.
All members of the local NAACP are urged to be present for what is considered an important election that will determine its leadership for the next two years.
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People recently celebrated its 50th year of operation in Surry County.
Spencer Funeral Home, site of the upcoming meeting and election, is on North Main Street.
