A Ceilidh (pronounced Kay-lee) is a word which means a gathering, usually with food, music and dancing. The NoneSuch Playmakers entertained the crowd for about an hour and a half to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a little early.
The performers delighted the crowd and themselves with traditional reels and dances. Shanna Jones, Elizabeth Folger, Angela Llewellyn, Heather Elliot and Joey Marion performed musical performances during the evening.
“We were really pleased with the turn-out. Even with the weather being cold and rainy and the ACC tournament on TV, we had a good turn out,” said Senior Center Coordinator Annalisa Davis.
Angela Llewellyn said the free performance was good for the playmakers, as it helped them to prepare for tonight’s performance at Chateau Morrisette to a sold-out crowd. This will be the second year for the Irish Ceilidh performance at the winery for the group.
The performance Friday night also included Linda Donnell, Brack Llewellyn, Ethan Edwards, Blake Hetrick, Tanner King and Brian Green.
The group is scheduled to perform “Stop the Presses” at Nancy Reynolds Elementary School next Saturday night. That performance is through the Stokes Arts Council.
