MONROE — The East Surry Cardinals lost by a score of 53-0 last night against the Monroe Redhawks during the second playoff round of varsity boys football.
Cardinals Head Coach David Diamont said the Redhawks were the best team the Cardinals had played against this year.
“We played very hard, but they were just better,” he said.
“The Redhawks continually re-established the line of scrimmage on their side, played physical, and had a great secondary,” he said. He further defined their line defense and offense, as both “big and strong.”
The Cardinals completed the season with a 6-7 record overall.
The number-two-seeded Redhawks will play the number-one-ranked Mount Airy Bears on Friday during the quarterfinals playoff round.
