ADVANCE — Mrs. JoAnn Wright Combs, 73, of Advance, passed away Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born Sept. 11, 1939, in Mount Airy to Arthur and Ethel Branson Wright. She was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church and was a retired homemaker. JoAnn loved her family and adored her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her husband of 18 years, Bill Newton Combs Jr.; a son, Jake Hodges (Lori) of Morganton; a stepdaughter, Kerrie Combs of Kernersville; a stepson, Kris Combs (Shannon) of Rolesville; four grandchildren, Kayla and Jacob Hodges, Alexis and K.C. Combs; and two brothers, Robert Wright and Barry Wright. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Green Meadows Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Green Meadows Baptist Church, 1646 N.C.
