The Mount Airy Christmas parade is scheduled for Nov. 24 at 9 a.m., according to a representative of the Mount Airy Downtown Business Association.

The parade will feature all the sights and sounds of the upcoming holiday season in the setting of downtown Mount Airy.

This year’s honorary parade grand marshal will be Eric Chilton. As a WFMY2 TV personality and Mount Airy native, Chilton is looking forward to seeing old friends.

Scheduling of the parade on Small Business Saturday is no coincidence. The nationwide campaign is targeted to promote the countries’ small businesses.

The parade, organized each year by the Downtown Business Association, also will benefit the Foothills Food Pantry.

Immediately following the parade, those in attendance are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History’s annex on West Oak Street where Eric Chilton will be on hand to greet visitors and children can visit with Santa.

Upcoming holiday events also scheduled by the Downtown Business Association include a Holiday Open House on Dec. 1. For more information, visit www.mountairydowntown.org, or contact the Downtown Business Association at 786-4511.
