HILLSVILLE, Va. — Joseph Michael (Mike) Vass, 56, of Hillsville, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his home. Mr. Vass was born in Carroll County to James and Dora Vass of Hillsville. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his four children and their spouses, Joe and Cari Vass of Edgewater, Fla., Mark and Jennifer Vass of Galax, Misty and Calvin Pack of Ararat and David Vass of Hillsville; three siblings and their spouses, Ivan and Jean Vass of Jonesville, N.C., Rebecca and Donnie Robertson of Stigler, Okla., and Craig and Julie Vass of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Chloi Maye Vass, Heidi Renae Vass, Izaak James Vass and Calvin Alex Pack; and girlfriend, Barbara Burnette of Marion, N.C. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Rex Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Skyview Cemetery.
