• Cross Creek Country Club was the scene of a break-in and larceny discovered Tuesday, according to the Mount Airy Police Department. It occurred at a maintenance building of the club, which was entered after a section of siding was loosened. Then a lock securing an orange and white Stihl chainsaw valued at $350 was cut and the saw stolen, with whoever was responsible apparently exiting through the same opening in the siding.
• Two people were cited for larceny Wednesday at Walmart. Jessie Lee Poindexter, 29, of 111 Founders Lane, Dobson, is accused of concealing items valued at nearly $200 and leaving the store, while Samantha Ann Willard, 25, of the same address, allegedly attempted to leave the business without paying for tools valued at $40. She also was cited for trespassing for returning to Walmart after being banned from the store. Poindexter and Willard were confined in the Surry County Jail, each in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond, and are scheduled to be in District Court on Jan. 8.
• A theft was reported Tuesday at Food Lion on West Pine Street, involving a wallet owned by Tina Marie Jones of Red Brush Road which had been left in a shopping cart. It contained nearly $110, a BB&T/VISA debit card and Social Security cards, among other property.
• Sarah Renee Williams, 33, of 873 Fowler Road, was cited for larceny Wednesday at Walmart, where she allegedly took various makeup items valued at $18. Police also found there were outstanding criminal summonses out for Williams on violations of injury to real property and second-degree trespassing which had been issued by the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office on March 29. The woman’s husband, Timothy Dell Williams, 33, was cited for second-degree trespassing Wednesday for being at Walmart after he previously was banned. The Williamses have January court dates in Surry District Court.
• Marquis Reginald Hatcher, 18, of Flat Rock, was jailed under a $27,500 secured bond Tuesday for a probation violation, along with charges of providing false information to a law enforcement officer and resisting, obstructing or delaying a public officer. Hatcher was encountered during a traffic stop on East Pine Street at Gaylon Street and continuously provided false information, according to arrest records. A brief investigation revealed that authorities in Guilford County had issued a warrant for his arrest on the probation violation. The additional offenses were filed after Hatcher ran on foot from Officer Pat Ellis and was apprehended shortly afterward. The man is facing a Jan. 31 appearance in Surry District Court.
• Alfredo Daniel Pachecho, 17, of 107 W. Crosswinds Court, was arrested Tuesday on outstanding warrants for charges including larceny, possession of stolen goods and possession of alcohol by a person under 21. Megan Smith, of East Pine Street, is listed as a complainant. Pacheho was held in the Surry County Jail under a $300 secured bond and is to appear in District Court on Jan. 15.
