MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Bertie Mae Pruitt Edwards, 83, of 2447 Fancy Gap Road, Mount Airy, widow of Mr. Garfield Edwards, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born April 7, 1929, in Patrick County, Va., to the late Taylor And Susie Pruitt. She was retired from Pine State Knitting and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, David Edwards and special friend, Donna Bedsaul, of Mount Airy, Dennis Edwards of Mount Airy and Darrell and Lisa Edwards of Cana, Va.; a sister, Irene Mears of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Daisy Pruitt of Mount Airy; and a special niece, Mildred Wray of Mount Airy. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by two sisters, Nannie Lou Venable and Carrie McHone; and five brothers, Wesley, Herman, Amos, Clyde and Lee Pruitt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Bro. Don Collins, the Rev. Tom Delph and the Rev. Bill Tucker. Burial will follow in the Edwards Family Cemetery. The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home.
