MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Roxie Odella Bobbitt Blizard, 84, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at her son’s home. Mrs. Blizard was born in Surry County on May 1, 1928, to Royce Anderson Bobbitt Sr. and Elizabeth Beck Bobbitt. She was retired from Kentucky Derby Hosiery and was a member of Rockford Street United Methodist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Blizard Sr. and Brenda of Mount Airy; two grandsons and spouses, Donald Gray Blizard Jr. and Amy of Mount Airy and Michael Ryan and Beth of Mount Airy; six great-grandchildren, Savannah, Madison, Dylan, Devin, Emma and Quinton Blizard, all of Mount Airy; a sister, Norine Collins of Mount Airy; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Bobbitt of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blizard was preceded in death by a grandchild, Angela Blizard; a sister, Lola Jones; a brother, Royce Anderson Bobbitt Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Harvey Collins and Lacy Jones. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Skyline Memory Gardens.
