A vocal group from Winston-Salem will perform a concert Sunday in Mount Airy to benefit Blue Ridge CareNet Counseling Center.

The event featuring Chi Rho, the Wake Forest University Christian Men’s a cappella ensemble, is scheduled for 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 714 N. Main St.

Chi Rho has been making a mark on the music world for more than 20 years. In 1991, two Wake Forest students sought to fill a void centering on the lack of a campus-based music ministry.

Their inspiration led to the formation of the group that since has spread its message worldwide through tour dates and the release of 10 albums.

Chi Rho is known for its tight harmonies, powerful lyrics, poignant songs and sincere testimonials, according to promotional material for Sunday’s concert.

Proceeds from a love offering during the event will support the ministry of Blue Ridge CareNet Counseling Center, a non-profit facility on West Lebanon Street which is affiliated with Wake Forest Baptist Health.

More information about the singing group and clips of its songs can be found at www.chirho.com.
