• A theft discovered Thursday at the home of John Kerry Collins on Hunting Hills Drive involved the theft of four P-size Michelin wheels and tires valued at $1,040, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. They were removed from a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup owned by Collins.

• Police were told Thursday that the lock had been pried off an exterior door at Bryan Marion Motorsports on South Main Street in an attempt to gain entry to the business. No property was listed as missing.

• Property valued at $775 was stolen Wednesday from a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup parked at Forrest Oaks Shopping Center and an unsecured tool box on the vehicle. The property, owned by Charles Terry Horton of South Franklin Road, included the ignition and door keys to the pickup, a Kobalt socket set, a log chain, straps, a winch pulley, log and pallet pullers, battery cables, tractor pins and other tools and equipment.

• A break-in occurred Wednesday at the home of Tammy Ann Adams on Banner Street, which resulted in the larceny of a 9mm handgun, make not listed, and jewelry items including diamond earrings, gold thumb rings, a rope chain heart and a gold chain angel. The property was valued at $725. Entry was gained by breaking the glass in a door and window.

• A crime was reported Wednesday at Collins Pest Control on Westfield Road, where an attempt was made to enter the business by cutting two window screens. Nothing was said to be stolen, but the damage was put at $100.

• James Earle Marion of Fairlane Drive reported Wednesday that kerosene valued at nearly $650 had been stolen from a tank at a rental home he owns on nearby Mountain View Road.

• The theft of a $3,000 heat pump was discovered Monday at a residence in the 300-block of East Wilson Street, which occurred after copper lines were cut from the unit. The victim of the crime is William Cornelius Properties in Winston-Salem.

• Police learned Monday of a case of obtaining property by false pretense which occurred at Tarheel Converter and Core on Hay Street. It involves a known individual selling items that had been reported stolen, including batteries, copper wire and three aluminum wheels. The property was valued at more than $200 altogether. No arrest had been made at last report.

• A fraud-related incident also had been reported Sunday at Eddie’s Zip Food on North Andy Griffith Parkway, where a known suspect cashed a voided payroll check from Mountain Lumber Co. after having reported it stolen to the employer. The sum involved was not listed.

• The theft of a bottle of Burnett’s Vodka by an unknown suspect was discovered last Saturday at Mount Airy ABC Store on Starlite Road.
