MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Myrtle Fulk Noonkester, 85, of Mount Airy, widow of Mr. Foy Leonard Noonkester, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Noonkester was born Jan. 7, 1928, in Surry County to the late Charlie Clayburn and Amelia Elizabeth Marion Fulk. She was a homemaker and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Susan Noonkester and Gary and Stephanie Noonkester, all of Lowgap; three grandchildren and spouses, Lisa and Will Haynes of Lowgap, Tim and Kim Lakey of Mount Airy and Cassie Noonkester of Lowgap; five great-grandchildren, Logan Haynes and Trae Haynes, both of Lowgap, and Anna Lakey, Ben Lakey and Jaxon Lakey, all of Mount Airy; two sisters and brother-in-law, Rachel and Calvin Riggs of Spartanburg, S.C. and Violet Odell of Mount Airy; and a special niece, Barbara Ann George of Danville, Va. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Noonkester was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Johnson, Mary Ruth McCormick and Ruby York; and one brother, Hal Fulk. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with services conducted by the Rev. Alex Martin with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home of Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017; or to Calvary Baptist Church, 314 S. Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
