MOUNT AIRY — The Rev. Lonnie Andrew Gunter, 70, of 183 Glory Lane, Mount Airy, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Rev. Gunter was born Nov. 14, 1942, in Henry County, Va., and was raised by his grandparents, Emmett Oscar and Rena Jarvis Allen. He was the founder and pastor of Genesis Full Gospel Church and founder of Canaan Land Children’s Home. Surviving are his wife, Evelyne Hooker Gunter of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura Ann and Ricky Goins of Mount Airy; one son and daughter-in-law, David Scott (Bubba) and Holly Gunter of Mount Airy; three grandchildren, Joseph Andrew Goins, Matthew Adam Goins and his wife Tia and Jacob Scott Gunter; four half sisters, Joanne Faulkner of Roanoke, Kay Mabry, Cindy Crist and Patricia Crist, all of Martinsville; and five half brothers, Charles Lane Crist of Martinsville, Jerry Crist of Florida, Dave Crist of Martinsville, Ricky Crist of Newport News and Tony Crist of New York. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Genesis Full Gospel Church with services conducted by the Rev. Tom Slate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Genesis Full Gospel Church, Sparger Road, Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canaan Land Children’s Home, P.O.
