Benefits and Fundraisers

• Believers Baptist Church will hold a Miche and Thirty-One bingo today at the Ararat Ruritan Building, Ararat, Va., with doors opening at 6 p.m. and games at 7 p.m. Proceeds benefit the church building fund. Cost of $20 includes 20 games, one coverall and one door prize ticket, or $30 includes 20 games, two coveralls and 12 door prize tickets. The coverall prize is a Sabika necklace and earring set worth $225. Also raffles will be held for $100 in gas and a Sabika necklace and earring set worth $225. Concessions will be available.

• Lambsburg Missionary Baptist Church, Chestnut Grove Road, Lambsburg, Va., will host its 41st annual pancake breakfast and supper Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, gravy, coffee and all the trimmings, and is dine-in or take-out. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

• Rockford Street United Methodist Church will hold a free community clothes closet Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall in the basement of the church. Free soup will be served as well.

• Grace Moravian Church’s Women’s Fellowship will hold a Moravian chicken pie sale, with orders being taken from Sunday through March 13, and pick-up on March 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. All orders must be prepaid, and the cost is $11 per pie for one or two pies, or $10 per pie for orders of three or more. • This year’s Lent services for First Church of the Brethren, St. Paul Church of the Brethren and Shelton Church of the Brethren are each Sunday at 6 p.m. The schedule is Sunday at Shelton with speaker Glen Sage; March 10 at First Church with speaker The Comptons; March 17 at St. Paul with the combined choir; and March 24 at Shelton featuring an Easter play. • Mount Airy Wesleyan Church has a new prayer meeting open to the community on Thursdays at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. The primary purpose is to pray for the nation, state, county, churches and pastors.

The feeding friends dinner is served in the fellowship hall in the building closest to downtown, with signs available to guide visitors.

• A free “soup kitchen” is available on the last Thursday of each month in the Piney Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come as they are with no strings attached. The church is at 278 Piney Grove Road, which can be reached at 356-4196.

• Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. radio station 880 am will have radio ministry with Pastor Danny Poindexter from the Lighthouse Baptist Church.

• The Fountain Food Ministry hours have changed. Families in need of clothing or food may come every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. The ministry will be open weekly on Thursdays to assist those in need of food.
