MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Virginia Mae Allen Chamblin, 73, of Mount Airy, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was born in Surry County on July 13, 1939, to the late Flynn and Emily Southern Allen. Mrs. Chamblin was retired from Proctor-Silex and Northern Home Care and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Howard “Pokey” Chamblin of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Terry Chandler and Penny and Terry Jessup, all of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Torie Mickles and Troy Jessup, both of Mount Airy; great-grandchildren, Autumn, Nate and Holley Mickles, all of Mount Airy; sisters and brother-in-law, Elaine Edwards and Wanda and Don Boyles Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, A.G. Southern and Ellen of Winston-Salem, Flynn Allen Jr. and Betty, Billy Gray Allen and Wanda, all of Mount Airy, James Horton and Vickie of Pilot Mountain; and her special pet, Bo. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chamblin was preceded in death by sisters, Fannie Owens Hiatt and Emma Milvine Allen. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Chamblin and the Rev. Woody Flippen officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
