MOBILE, Ala. — Mrs. Ann J. Atkins, 65, formally of Mount Airy and a resident of Mobile, Ala., passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2009. Mrs. Atkins retired from Kmart after 28 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex N. Atkins. She is survived by her children, Lane Atkins, Tarji Atkins (Ronnie Houseknecht), Jobie Atkins (Ashley) and Tobie Atkins; siblings, Lonnie Jackson (Rachel), Nellie (Ray) Snow and Marylee Jackson; six grandchildren, Malana, Nicholas, Colby, Jimmy, Logan and Jackson Atkins; devoted friends, Sharon Nelson and Virginia Canfield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Ricky Jackson with burial to follow in White Plains Friends Meeting Cemetery.
