The Surry Storm third-grade team won a local tournament over the weekend. Team members are Kylie Bruner, Cadence Lawson, Morgan Mayfield, Mia McMillen, Adison Phipps, Kate Parks, Sofia Stafford and Kancie Tate.
The Surry Storm third-grade team won first place in the 11th annual Mayberry March Madness Tournament over the weekend.
The Storm’s third-grade team is now coached by Chad Phipps and Sara White McMillen, a member of the Surry County Sports Hall of Fame.
McMillen said Surry beat the Wilkes Diamonds and Winston-Salem Stealers in pool play Saturday morning. Then in the championship game, Surry again faced the Diamonds and won.
