PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Edith Norene Chilton Johnson, 85, of 501 Longhill Road, Pilot Mountain, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009. She was born March 9, 1924, in Surry County to the late Rev. J.W. Chilton and Rosa Etta Boyles Chilton. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Sharlene and Wayne Martin, of Walkertown, and Vickie and Phillip Isaacs, of Pilot Mountain; daughter-in-law Betty Johnson Moser, of Mount Airy; sons and daughters-in-law Douglas and Roena Johnson, of Mount Airy and David and Mary Johnson, of Pilot Mountain; three grandsons; seven granddaughters; 10 great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; brother and sister-in-law the Rev. and Mrs. Fred Chilton (Nora), of Pilot Mountain; sister-in-law Mrs. James Chilton (Dorothy), of Pilot Mountain; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Franklin Johnson, son, Bobby G. Johnson, infant grandson, Kevin Wayne Isaacs, sisters, Lesther Jackson, Ora Bryant, Ruby Cook, Lola Marion, Brucie Chilton, Vallie Inman and Esther Bullington and brothers, Roscoe and James Chilton. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Chapel of Pilot Mountain, conducted by the Rev. Fred Chilton, the Rev. Bill Watson and the Rev. Steve Johnson with interment to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Service of Pilot Mountain.
