MOUNT AIRY — Mr. James Thurmond Carter, 80, of 394 Skyview Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Monday night, Oct. 26, 2009, at his home. Mr. Carter was born Aug. 21, 1929, in Forsyth County to the late Willie and Ethel Dull Carter. He was retired from the Mount Airy City Schools as principal at Jones Elementary School and later at Tharrington Elementary School. Mr. Carter was also a member of North Main Church of Christ. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Harper Carter of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jon Alan and Nanci Carter of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Zachary Alan Carter and Carrigan Alisa Carter, both of Nashville, Tenn.; and one brother, Cecil Carter of Mocksville. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Gae Carter. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the North Main Church of Christ with services conducted by Robert Geisbers with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at the Warners Chapel Church of Christ in Clemmons.
