DOBSON — Mr. Delbert A. Wilmoth, 93, of Dobson, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Wilmoth was born in Surry County on Oct. 30, 1916, to the late Genie Delbert and Leatha Mae Hicks Wilmoth. Mr. Wilmoth worked as a farmer, deputy for Surry County Jail and Washington Mills. Delbert was a member and served as a deacon for 36 years for Copeland Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother. Mr. Wilmoth is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Frances (J.W.) Key of Dobson; two grandchildren, Sandra K. (John) Hodges and Joseph Brian (Judy) Key; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude (Patty) Wilmoth of Pfafftown, Buster (Shirley) Wilmoth of Pilot Mountain and Esker Wilmoth of King; and two sisters, Versie Warren of Elkin and Annie Wall of Mount Airy. Mr. Wilmoth was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, his wife, Allie Coe Wilmoth. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Copeland Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joey Jessup and the Rev. Colen Forrest officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Copeland Baptist Church and other times at his daughter’s home.
