Wii Wednesdays have sign-ups to play beginning at 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday. In order to play the Wii games, players will have to have a library card in good standing.

Join us for Book Chats. Book Chats is an informal book club, where we gather to discuss books that everyone is currently reading. These discussions are open to the public, and are free of charge. Join us for our next meeting on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. We look forward to seeing you!

Join our movie-based book club, Picture Books. Each month we’ll each read a book that was adapted into a movie. Then we gather together to watch the movie, and afterwards compare the two. The book and movie for Feb. is “Where the Heart Is”. We’ll watch the movie on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. Come by the library to pick up your copy of the book. The book club books are provided by the library, and the movie is free of charge. Open for ages teen to adult.

In Feb. we will be having a Presidential Trivia contest! Pick up your entry form at the library and compete for a $50 Pages Bookstore gift card! Entries are due back to the library by Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 15.

Was Lincoln born in North Carolina? Come hear visiting author Annis Ward Jackson discuss her new book on the subject on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at noon. Bring your lunch and listen as Ms. Jackson shares her story. Free to the public!

All entries for the Northwestern Regional Library 2010 Photography Contest must be received by Wednesday, Feb. 17th at any library branch of the region. The photography exhibit will travel to all participating libraries, and no work may be removed before the end of the traveling exhibit. Judging will take place during the week of March 1, and the awards reception will be held March 9 at 7 p.m. at the Charles H. Stone Memorial Library in Pilot Mountain. A photography workshop will be held prior to the awards reception at 5:30 p.m. Both events are open to the public. Come by the library to pick up your entry form. The entry fee is $5 per entry.

Preschool Story Hours happen weekly. Library assistant Jenny Wright leads the Wednesday story times, with the two-year olds at 9:30 a.m., and the three-year olds at 10:30 a.m. Assistant Librarian Tommie Smith leads the Thursday story times, with 4 and 5 year olds at 10:30 a.m. These events are free, and open to the public.
