RURAL HALL — James Norris Hall, 83, beloved husband, father and grandfather, departed this life for his eternal home on March 15, 2010, at his home. He was born June 12, 1926, in Surry County to the late Joe Henry Sr. and Pearl Booker Hall. He was a World War II naval veteran serving in the Pacific. Mr. Hall was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, J.H. Hall Jr. and Jack B. Hall; and one sister, Peggy Lou Hall. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Hortense Wood Hall; son, Michael Noel Hall; and granddaughter, Heather Nicole Hall. Other survivors are three sisters, Sue Hall Lambert of Danville, Va., Nancy Willoughby of Cocoa, Fla., and Ann Ring of Winston-Salem; two brothers, David Lee Hall of Greentown, Pa., and Donald Hall of South Plainfield, N.J.; also, several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Rural Hall with the Rev. Keith McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy with military burial rites being conducted by the Mount Airy VFW Post 2019 and the Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O.
