CANA, Va. — Mr. Frederick McKinley Eads, 88, of Cana, Va., passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Eads was born on Oct. 29, 1921, in Pulaski County to the late Fleming Harrison and Bessie Eads. Mr. Eads served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division attached to E-Company 2/325th PGIR during World War II. He received a Purple Heart during a combat operation at St. Mere Eglise. He is survived by a daughter, Brenda E. Eads of the home; three grandchildren and spouse, Casey M. Martin, Lisa and Juan Rico and Rico Eads all of Cana; great grandchildren, Angelina, Santana, Manuel and Leticia Orozco, Emily and Sarah Martin; great-great grandchildren, Mia and Lia Flores-Orozco and Arianna Star Reyes; special nieces and nephews, Shirley aka Charlie, Susie and Jason Eads. In addition to his parents, Mr. Eads was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Irene Jones Eads; sister, Dolly Ayers and three brothers, Harry Lee, Woody and Andrew Eads. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Tommy Vass with burial to follow in the Jones-Fleming Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy will be assisting the Eads family.
