While today will be the fourth Tuesday for the market, many fruits and vegetables aren’t quite ready yet, but Terry Garwood, extension agent for the local office of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, said farmers are offering plants, greens and homemade breads and pies this time of year.
The market is held each Tuesday in the parking lot of the Andy Griffith Playhouse from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
Garwood said this year, an additional day will be added to the schedule starting in July when the farmers market will be open every Tuesday and Thursday. He said 11 farmers so far have signed up to participate this year.
