Details were sketchy late Tuesday night, but John Shelton, Emergency Services Coordinator for Surry County, said the boy went missing, but rescuers found him not too long after arriving on the scene.
A dispatcher with the county Emergency Dispatch Center said the boy went missing 45 minutes prior to the call, which came in at 8:39.
He said the Pinnacle and Pilot Mountain volunteer rescue squads, as well as the Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the scene and took part in the search.
