Amelia Elizabeth Cockerham and Joseph Michael White were married Oct. 27, 2012, in Grace Moravian Church. The Rev. Tony Hayworth performed the 5 p.m. ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of John and Tina Cockerham of Mount Airy. Her grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. L.P. “Mickey” McCall, the late John “Bert” Cockerham and Margaretha Bullen. She graduated from Mount Airy High School in 2003 and East Carolina University in 2007, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in communication. She received a Master of Art in teaching in 2010 and is a sixth-grade ELA teacher and cheerleading coach.

The bridegroom is the son of Wallace and Catherine White of Roxboro. His grandparents are the late Marion J. Snyder and Kenneth F. Kline and Lorelei White and the late William W. White. He graduated from Person High School in 2000 and Pitt Community College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in criminal justice. He is a correctional officer with the N.C. Department of Public Safety and is a North Carolina high school basketball official.

A program of wedding music was performed by Kathy Pruett, pianist; Rachel Fellows, violinist; Erich Atkins, guitarist; and Jenny Sieminski, soloist. The reader was Brittney Steuerwald.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a Vera Wang A-line gown designed with a V-neck and corded lace attached on an asymmetrical pattern over netting. A V-neck mirrored the back bodice with layers of organza and net extending into a modern cathedral-length train. She wore a double tier elbow-length veil with satin corded edge and carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas.

Maids of honor were Katherine Burke of Charlotte and Ashley Davis of Greenville. The bridesmaids were Danielle Bagdon of Greenville; Jennifer Blaine of Charlotte; Tara Hill of Greensboro; Ashley Moser of Mount Airy; Dana Riebman of Raleigh; and Kaitlin Strother of Annapolis, Md.

They wore black dresses designed by Vera Wang and carried bouquets of green roses with dark purple statice, larkspur and other purple accents.

The flower girl was Annalyse Rodriguez, cousin of the groom. Maddox Martin, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The bridegroom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Will Cannady of Wilmington; Heath Summerlin of Oak Island; Chad Summerlin of Winnabow; Cory Polanski of Oak Island; Kevin Bell and Myles Gianino, both of Greenville; and John Morgan Cockerham of Chapel Hill. The ushers were Brian Steuerwald of Alexandria, Va., and Blake Tate of Roxboro.

The guest register and program attendants were Lauren-Maree McPhail of Winston-Salem and Whitney Large of Fayetteville.

Susan Gentry was the wedding director.

A reception followed at Cross Creek Country Club. Greeters were Kevin and Amy Shough of Mount Airy and Bradley and Katie Key of Ararat.

The newlyweds will spend their honeymoon on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom’s parents at Old North State Winery on Friday evening.

A bridal luncheon was held at the Harvest Grill at Shelton Vineyards on Friday prior to the wedding.

Engagement parties, bridal showers and a brunch were hosted by family and friends of the bride and groom.
