The North Surry Greyhounds took down Starmount by a score of 65-51 on Tuesday in Starmount.

Head Coach Travis Gammons said the Hounds played good offensively and got into a rhythm early. They had a 16-2 lead in the first quarter and the score was 35-21 at the half, said Gammons.

“We were playing really well on both sides of the ball as good as we have played up to this point,” Gammons said.

He described the team as knocking down both post and jump shots against Starmount.

The Hounds hit a total of three perimeter shots that were three points each in the first quarter and were 21-27 in freethrows, said Gammons.

In the second half, the Hounds “picked up where we left off and we were able to get all of our guys on the roster to contribute to the win,” he said.

The leading scorers for the Greyhounds on Wednesday were: Grayson Vernon 25, Marcus Sawyers 11, Jacob Snow 9, Klay Newsome 7, Austin Handy 6, Nathan Fletcher 4, Austin France 2, and Nick Wilson 1.

Gammons said, “I was pleased with the win and that was three in a row.”

The Hounds have won the last three against Carver, Mount Airy and Starmount. Their record is 3-3 overall and are 1-0 in the conference.

The Greyhounds will play West Stokes Friday at home.
