ARARAT — Mrs. Maxine Adeline Bryant Venable, 71, of Ararat, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1941, in Surry County to the late George Thomas Bryant Sr. and Maxine Tilley Bryant. Mrs. Venable retired as cash office manager at Walmart. She loved traveling with her husband and searching for antiques and playing with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Curtis Venable of the home; son, Kevin Curtis Venable of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; daughter, Karen Lee Rogers of Pilot Mountain; grandchildren, Michael Venable, Kambree Kristyne Bennett and Kinlee Rogers; great-grandchildren, Zoey Benet Pierce and Winter Sky Venable; and brother, George Thomas Bryant Jr. and wife Faye of Claudville, Va. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. at the Venable-Bryant Family Cemetery in Ararat, conducted by the Rev. Clayton Tilley. The family will receive friends Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Howell-Nelson Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O.
