Copeland-Casstevens couple marries in home ceremony

Amber Michelle Copeland and Chadwick Darrell Casstevens were united in marriage on June 23, 2012, with Scott Obenchain officiating. The ceremony was performed at 3:30 p.m. at the home of the bride’s grandparents, Graham and Ann Copeland in Surry, Va.

The bride is the daughter of Peter and Vicky Copeland of Franklin, Va., and she is also the granddaughter of Bob Edwards and the late Lois Edwards. She graduated from Southampton High School in 2002 and Virginia Tech in 2006 with a major in human nutrition, food and exercise and a minor in chemistry. In 2009, she graduated from Appalachian College of Pharmacy with a doctorate of pharmacy and is employed as a pharmacist at Walmart in Kernersville.

The bridegroom is the son of Homer and Shirley Casstevens of Mount Airy. His grandparents are Sarah Louise Creasy and the late Robert E. Creasy and the late John and Inez Casstevens. He graduated from Surry Central High School in 2002 and Pfeiffer University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies education. A graduate of Appalachian School of Law in 2010 with a Juris Doctor degree, he is employed at Casstevens and Casstevens, Attorneys At Law in Dobson.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Her 1950s lace dress was worn by her grandmother, Lois Edwards. The bodice was altered from a high neck and long sleeves to a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves. She carried a bouquet of pink lilies, white roses and pink daisies For the wedding ceremony, she wore a birdcage headpiece and later for the reception she wore a white flower in her hair.

Jenny Sears of Annapolis, Md., was the maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Megan Everett of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Elizabeth Bailey of Courtland, Va.; Tracie C. Hale of King, sister of the bridegroom; and Kristen Obenchain of Blacksburg, Va., cousin of the bride. They wore short gowns of pistachio green chiffon and carried bouquets of pink daisies.

The junior bridesmaids were Nicole Copeland of Franklin, Va., cousin of the bride; Nicole Obenchain of Blacksburg, Va., cousin of the bride; and Suzannah Hole of King, niece of the bridegroom.

The bridegroom’s father served as best man. The groomsmen were Patrick Casstevens of Mount Airy, twin brother of the bridegroom; Landon Copeland of Franklin, Va., brother of the bride; Rommel Hale of King, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Benjamin Hale of King, nephew of the bridegroom; Nathan Hale of King, nephew of the bridegroom; Christopher Copeland of Franklin, Va., cousin of the bride; and James Copeland of Franklin, Va., cousin of the bride.

The ushers were Neil Casstevens of Lincolnton and Scott Blackburn of Mount Airy, cousins of the bridegroom; and Kevin and Keith Jordan, both of Dobson; Adam Stanley of Winston-Salem; and Jacob Wagoner of Yadkinville.

The mistress of ceremonies was Carrie Fox, cousin of the bride. Lyndsay Young of Franklin, Va., was the guest book attendant with Dana Draughn and Emily D. Casstevens, cousins of the bridegroom, as program attendants.

The reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, followed the wedding.

The bridal couple spent their honeymoon at Key West, Fla. They reside in King.

The bridegroom’s parents hosted the rehearsal dinner at the Virginia Diner in Wakefield, Va.

A bridal luncheon was held on June 22 at Simply Divine in Franklin, Va., and hosted by Carrie Fox, Pat Cobb, Elizabeth Bailey, Lisa Kristen and Nicole Oberchain.
