Haynes Strand and Company PLLC, a public accounting firm based in Mount Airy and Greensboro, recently celebrated 25 years in business recently.
The company opened its doors on Nov. 1, 1987, with founding members J. Samuel Gentry Jr., Gerald W. Schultheiss, Johnny C. Wood, the late John B. Haynes and the late Austin C. Strand. Each of the founding members had many years of experience in the accounting industry before coming together to create Haynes Strand and Company PLLC, initially working from card tables as desks and using hand-held calculators.
Jeffrey A. Gordon began work at the firm in January of 1988, and became a partner in the company in 1999, Christopher W. Bunting became a partner on Jan. 1 of this year. Today the firm has more than 35 employees.
“There are many contributing factors to the company’s success, the firm said in a written statement. “Perhaps the most important one is the unwavering commitment of Haynes Strand to its clients. Since the beginning, the members and employees at Haynes Strand have possessed a spirit of service that has allowed them to become partners in their clients’ success.
