WESTFIELD — Mrs. Mary Alice Flippin Durham, 89, of Westfield, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Walnut Cove Health Care. She was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Stokes County to the late Alexander and Daisy Flippin. Mrs. Durham was a homemaker and retired CNA and a member of Brims Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn D. Bennett (Bobby) of King; son and daughter-in-law, R. Wallace Durham (Jane) of Ararat; grandchildren, Sharon Palacios (Ernesto), Tim Bennett (Christy), David Bennett (Edith), Richard Wallace Durham Jr. Debbie and Martha Jane Durham; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Durham; son, Carlos Ray Durham; sister, Lillie Simmons; and brother, Alexander Flippin Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Brims Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Gerald Jones and the Rev. Ric Durham with interment to follow at Brims Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Durham will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Howell-Nelson Funeral Service.
