ARARAT — Mrs. Martha Jane Allred Key, 65, of Ararat, passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born in Surry County on Jan. 1, 1948, to the late Joe Hollingsworth and Jessica Welch Allred. Mrs. Key was a member of Blackwater United Methodist Church and retired from Medical Associates of Surry. She was a loving wife, mother, “nana,” sister and friend. Mrs. Key is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Lynn Key of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Andy Lynn and Candice Puckett Key and Bradley Scott and Katie Hiatt Key, all of Ararat; four grandchildren, Abigail Elizabeth Key, Jackson Allred Key, Joshua Andrew Key and Lilla Jane Key; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen Mitchell and husband, John of Rockhill, S.C., her twin sister, Mary Dickerson and husband, Dick, of Statesville, and Beth Williams and husband, Dick, of Raleigh. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Key was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Allred. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Turman and the Rev. Richard Loman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.
