MOUNT AIRY

Mrs. Rachel Bowlin Harris, age 83, of Mount Airy, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. She was born May 22, 1928 in Surry County to the late Elijah & Minnie Holt Bowlin. Mrs. Harris was a homemaker and a member of Midway Baptist Church for over fifty years. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley H. Moore of Advance, NC; sons, Michael C. and wife Betty Harris of Wendell, NC and Kenneth C. Harris of Mount Airy, NC; grandson, Jonathan M. Harris & his mother Joann Hart of Winston-Salem, NC; sisters, Rebecca Noonkester of Ararat, VA and Jewel Edwards of High Point, NC and brothers, Edsel and wife Minnie Bowlin of Bassett, VA and James Bowlin of Columbia SC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Lee Harris; sisters, Clara Johnson and Avis Marion; brothers, Ervin Bowlin and Leslie “Les” Bowlin; sister-in-law, Rachel Bowlin; brothers-in-law, Buck Johnson, Herman Marion and Dallas Noonkester and son-in-law, R. Neal Moore Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030 or to Midway Baptist Church, 1015 North Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
