Mr. Henry “Glen” Hawks age 80 of 456 Imogene Rd., Lambsburg, VA widower of Mrs. Brenda Lee Golding Hawks passed away Sunday, May 20, 2011 at his home. He was born August 9, 1931 in Carroll County, VA to the late Earl and Eliza Surratt Hawks. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. Mr. Hawks was retired from Bassett Furniture and was a member of Lambsburg Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Blas Marla-cruz, Lambsburg, VA, and a son and daughter-in-law, Michael Todd and Linda Hawks, 5 grandchildren, Christopher Shawn Hawks, Joshua Andrew Hawks, Matthew Brandon Hawks, Danneka Nicole Merla-cruz and Channing Blas Merla-cruz all of Lambsburg, VA, 2, great grandchildren, Sora Blayze Shelton, Mount Airy, NC and Kaebry Harper Broyles, Cana, VA, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Hawks was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Glen Hawks, three sisters, Bernell McCraw, Margie Francis, Elizabeth Hawks and three brothers, Clyde, Orville and Albert Hawks. Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon, Friday, May 26. 2012, at the New Beginnings Community Church conducted by Rev. Wes Mosteller. Burial will follow in the Surratt Family Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 2019 Mount Airy and VFW Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at New Beginnings Community Church where Mr. Hawks will remain until time of the funeral service.
