Mrs. Mary Audene Carter Bennett, 84 of Mount Airy passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Mount Airy. Mrs. Bennett was born in Surry County on March 16, 1928 to the late John and Mary Lokra Carter. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Airy Church of God. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Van Hamlin of Dobson, Patty and Danny Hull of Mount Airy, Raynelle Hamblin of Dobson; a son, David Bennett and fiancée Joyce Wolfe of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Wade Collins of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie G. and Faye Carter of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wilson Bennett; a son-in-law, Philip Hamblin; a brother, Eugene Carter; two sisters, Becky Miller and Josephine McCraw. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Mount Airy Church of God with Rev. Charles Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of the service at the church.
