PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mrs. Effie Josephine Palmer King, 78, wife of John Casey King, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born on Nov. 8, 1933, in Surry County to the late James Anderson and Ida Irene Cain Palmer. Josephine was a sterile supply technician for Northern Hospital of Surry County for 20 years, sang gospel music for 37 years as the King Family and was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Mount Airy. Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 60 years, John King of the home; two sons, David King and John Wayne King, both of Pilot Mountain; one daughter, Wanda King Goins of Pilot Mountain; seven grandchildren, Sarah Orchulli, Adam Goins, Austin King, Bobby King, Casey King, Laken King and Andrew King; and two brothers, Billy Palmer of Pilot Mountain and Jimmy Palmer of Pinnacle. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her parents. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Cox-Needham Chapel with the Bro. Dan Buie officiating with entombment to follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery.
